New Tesla Cybertruck Prototype Leaked, Revealing Improvements and Compromises

A new prototype of the Tesla Cybertruck has leaked, showcasing surprising improvements as well as a few design compromises.

There are notable changes that the leak highlights, including the controversial mirrors which should be removable. Also of innate controversy among Cybertruck enthusiasts is a large singular plastic windshield wiper, which wasn’t on original prototypes.

On the plus side the leak does showcase the design of Cybertruck, which is aesthetically sleek and undeniably unique. The LED headlights remain as what appears to be a singular beam of light.

There are now no buttons on the doors themselves, which would indicate that Tesla will be utilizing a motorized approach not unlike the front doors of Model X.

The bed in the back is quite spacious and can be covered electronically, with a ramp that will be able to detract for the full-sized Cyberquad ATV.

An employee, either from the Gigafactory or an independent contractor, provided the leaked video. He does note that the prototype is still in conceptual stages, and not a production version so there is more room for Tesla to make changes — which they will.

Real Talk

Cybertruck will be a technical marvel when it ships.

There are so many motorized components that from a technological standpoint consumers will be getting a lot of features and advanced utility for the money.

Not to mention that the stainless steel looks incredible under the factory lighting.

We do hope to see Tesla change the comically large windshield wipers, perhaps with lasers as they had patented, as it doesn’t fit the refined overall aesthetic of Cybertruck. The removable mirrors on the other hand aren’t the end of the world.

The wheels seem to be around 18", which is small by default for a large truck. It’s likely that Tesla will offer larger wheels as an upgraded factory option, which should further increase the average sale price of Cybertruck.

This is a leak we’ve been waiting for, as while the production version of Cybertruck will be similar to the original prototypes Tesla will be making changes that are either potential improvements such as the motorized doors or compromises in the form of conventional wiper blades to meet regulatory demands.
